Important Fox Pub Development News – Council Planning Meeting on 10th April 2018 open to residents
The Fox pub site revised application will be heard at the next planning meeting at the Dugdale Centre on Tuesday 10th April at 7.30pm.
This is a very important development for Palmers Green. Please attend if you can. Several community groups submitted comments and objections earlier and it is important that we insist that our views should be taken into account at the meeting.
It will be recalled that groups including FLDRA participated in consultations with the developers and made a range of proposals to ensure that the new development enhances the area and is an asset to the community.
Most recently, FLDRA sent new representations and expressed disappointment that the revised plans do not reflect the content of the consultations.

One of the main concerns of residents’ groups is that in spite of earlier reassurances, there is no realistic provision in the proposals for a function room which can be used by the community.
The Fox has been officially designated an “Asset of Community Value”, with many events, such as the popular “Talkies” film screenings, being held regularly in the hall at the rear of the current building. Initial hopes that this facility would be maintained and improved have been dashed.
Another issue highlighted by FLDRA and others is that, in spite of concerns that the residential development is too large and will overwhelm the historic pub, its design is unsympathetic to the character of the local area.
The new proposal goes further by adding an additional floor making the residential block five storeys high which will totally dominate the pub and protrude above neighbouring buildings. No additional car parking spaces have been provided for the extra flats being built.
Please go along to the meeting if you can. If you want to speak against the new proposals you need to register before noon on Monday 9th April – contact email@example.com
