Merkur Slots Statement
We have recently sent a letter to Enfield Council and MP Bambos Charalambous regarding Merkur Slots, a 24 hour gambling centre which will be located at 292-292A Green Lanes.
We have stated that such a venue will not contribute positively to our High Street or Ward, and further consideration should be given to the negative impact the granting of such a licence will have – when taking into account the four other betting licences already granted within close proximity. As such, we have asked for the licence application to be reviewed and effectively withdrawn.
It is important that we look after our High Street and pay close attention to venues opening – as this will inevitably shape the future of our community.
